Zoomorphic Lingling-O Necklace

Regular price $55.00 $0.00

Lingling-o is a type of penannular or double-headed pendant or amulet that has been associated with various late Neolithic to late Iron Age Austronesian cultures. The earliest form of this ornament was discovered from sites in the Philippines and some in Southeast Asia. An archaeological find by Peter Bellwood in the early 2000s provides evidence of indigenous Philippine manufacture of lingling-o as early as 2,500 years ago.

This particular lingling-o is with a zoomorphic design. Crafted in the Northern Cordilleras of the Philippines, today there are only five indigenous families left who create the lingling-o using ancient bras-casting techniques.

Zoomorphic lingling-o necklace with cord. Made in the Philippines with recycled brass and dipped in gold.
