The Lulu prairie maxi dress is made of bamboo jersey with an indigenous textile in a tribal stripe pattern at the front yoke. The tribal stripes were created by indigenous Apayao artisans from the Cordilleras in the northern part of the Philippines, using an ancient handwoven techniques called passed down from generations prior.

The stripes are characterized by dominant red stripes and motifs of geometric patterns (in this case, small and subtle geometric patterns) interlaced with white and black yarns. The red sometimes symbolizes the ground, while yellow can represent wealth, growth, and fertility. Traditionally used as women’s skirts and men’s g-strings or loin cloths, these fabrics were generally worn during rituals and special occasions such as weddings and festivals.

Supporting, preserving, and celebrating indigenous tribes and their rich culture is at the heart of KINdom. We are all KIN.
