Before plastic or glass was invented, embellishment was made of natural materials. From the feather work of Native Americans, shell creations of the Native Polynesians, to the intricate details of African or South American metals, materials from Mother Earth were a-plenty.

In the Southern Philippines, the “bosok” plant (or “kabigti” or “panyas") is a tropical grass plant w/ sword-shaped leaves & white spherical seeds used as natural beads, known to the modern world as “Job’s tears” or “Mary’s tears”. They take-on the shape of tear droplets and are generally pearly white to grayish in color, are sun-dried, polished, & used for beading by the T'Boli indigenous tribe of the Philippines.

For a more circularity & sustainability, the T’Boli indigenous artisans upcycled our Madison t-shirt column dress (with pockets!) with hand-beading into our now Madi-Bead dress w/ bosok beads, so we can keep this ancient tribal practice alive while being kind to Mama Earth. No two alike.

- Crew-neck, short-sleeve t-shirt column dress with pockets

- Reclaimed bamboo jersey, 95% bamboo, 5% spandex

- Made in China, upcycled in the Philippines by T'Boli indigenous artisans
