Our T'nalak fan earrings are made from an ancient tribal tradition of making textiles of the T'boli Philippine indigenous people. The abaca yarns, which are leaves from a plant of an indigenous banana species, are stretched out as warp on a loom, and then tied accordingly to create the design, then dyed using natural plant dyes, then if there is a second color (which there is in these earrings), some ties stay and it goes into a second dye bath, then finally all are untied. But it doesn't stop there. Then the strap back loom is worn by a tribal artisan, then dyed weft yarns are woven in with the warp yarns to create the textile. It may take weeks or even months to create a few meters of fabric, before it can be made into other products, such as these fan earrings. Each one is unique, no two are alike.

Abaca fiber colored with natural plant dyes. Made in the Philippines by T'boli indigenous artisans.
